We fell in love with several birds that our friend Mary Bacon had and through her generosity we obtained Icicle and Sunflower. These are beautiful opals shown below. Now we have caught her fever and find these birds very precious. These birds are rare, compared to the other canaries, and we are proud to have this season a great number of rare beauties unrivaled in the area, except by those found at Exquisite Exotics Aviary!

The male on the left is a silver agate opal. This superb male comes from Mary's birds at Exquisite Exotics Aviary and is our favorite guy. His name is Icicle. The female on the right, also from Mary's birds, is a yellow opal (her name is Sunflower).

This pair produced the 3 females below, which exhibit a sex linked ivory trait. Their beaks and legs are lighter and even in the nest one could tell they would be females. Females have XY chromosomes and they exhibit the chromosomes they have, while the males can pass on traits they do not exhibit.

This lovely male is a silver agate, son of Icicle above. His mother was a gold ivory agate. She passed on the agate mustache to "Silver" and the markings on the back. He carries the opal gene also.

We still have this great Silver Agate bird and we are making him available for purchase this season.
